BlackBerry's upcoming square-shaped smartphone, the Passport, has already been officially conformed by the company's CEO - and is set for a September release.
Unfortunately, most of the BlackBerry Passport's specifications remain a mystery. However, n4bb claims to have managed to obtain the specifications of the smartphone ahead of the company's announcement next month.
As per the leaked specifications list, the BlackBerry Passport is said to come with a 4.5-inch LCD display with a resolution of 1440x1440 pixels alongside Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. These details about the screen size and resolution are in-line with the few details that have already been revealed by the company.
Other purported specifications of the device include a 2.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 (MSM8974-AA) processor; an Adreno 330 GPU; 3GB of RAM; 32GB of inbuilt storage, expandable storage via microSD card (up to 64GB); a 13-megapixel rear camera with BSI sensor; a 2-megapixel front camera, and a 3450mAh battery.
The BlackBerry Passport is said to measure 128x90.3x9.3mm, and weigh 194.4 grams. The smartphone is likely to support Nano-SIM while supporting Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Micro-USB, NFC, GPS, Glonass, GPRS/ EDGE, 3G, and 4G LTE connectivity options.
Notably, many of the rumored specifications leaked currently are in-line with previous reports.
Moreover, the BlackBerry Passport is likely to be the first smartphone running BlackBerry 10.3 OS, and will also come with the company's recently unveiled voice-based virtual assistant, the BlackBerry Assistant.
The company had also expressed its motivation behind Square shaped phone, detailing the benefits for the BlackBerry Passport's design. It had said the BlackBerry Passport was "designed from the ground up for the working professional in mind," and gave several advantageous use cases for the smartphone (architects looking at blueprints, doctors looking at X-ray reports, and stock brokers navigating a Web-based trading platform).
Earlier this month, the company launched a dedicated pre-registration page for the square-shaped Passport smartphone. Interested consumers can sign-up on the pre-registration page to get more details about the soon-to-be-launched BlackBerry Passport smartphone.
