If you've ever worked on Wordpress to create your blog, the complexity of creating a post is immediately apparent. In fact, blogs like Tumblr and the fairly-young Medium feature an easy-to-use interface. Wordpress intends to change this with version 4.0, named "Benny" in honour of jazz clarinettist Benny Goodman. It is available for download immediately.
With the new update, Wordpress intends to add a bit more 'polish' like it states in the official blog. Right off the bat, increased focus on content creation is evident from the fact that now the editor is content aware and expands to fit the size. In conjunction, the formatting tools, on the right of screen, will be always present even while scrolling. Wordpress also adds visual flair to the media section, where users can check their uploaded files in an endless grid. The updated details preview makes sequential editing easy too.
In what we believe is the most important visual update in Wordpress 4.0 - embedding is now a visual experience. Unlike earlier versions of Wordpress, users can view a true preview of your embedded content within the editor itself. One doesn't need to click on the preview button anymore to view embedded content like YouTube videos or tweets.
Wordpress has also added a few services by default like CollegeHumor, playlists from YouTube, and talks from TED and much more. Finally, in what can be deemed a relief, the blogging platform now makes it easier to find the right plugin from among the more than 30,000 free and open source plugins using new metrics, improved search and an overall more visual browsing experience.
